As the economy has slowed down so has Matt's job. He's a mechanic and is paid flat rate (you only get paid if you have something to work on) which sucks and is totally killing us.
Matt and I talked about Vernal and Elko. Mining and Drilling. We started asking around. We have heard great things about the oil/natural gas field and how they are desperetly looking for employees. The draw back was time away from home and being away from the family. We scouted all around, made numerous phone calls to friends and had confirmation that they could just show up and have a job within a day. We took a gamble and sent Matt and his good friend Mike to Vernal on Tuesday.
Well that's were we hit the big hole in our plan.
Today is Friday and still no job. Little did we know/realize that it's hunting season and almost every rig supervisor in Vernal is out. Damn Hunters.
There is hope though. Tomorrow morning Mike and Matt have two different job interviews. Hopefully they will be employed again, sooner rather than later. Let's cross our fingers.

Sad that you would be moving away from all of your family. But like you said, the economy sucks. You gotta do whatcha gotta do. Good luck - to you & Matt.
I know a family who lives in Vernal working with the drilling companies. He got on there when he got home from Iraq. Would you look for work in Vernal too? What's your plans if it works out in Vernal? Good luck!!
